Brenda Silveus with family

Brenda Silveus

What do you do: I am the northern Arizona area manager at Pioneer Title Agency, a proudly family-owned and -operated title and escrow company with offices that touch every single county in Arizona. The largest independent Title Company in Arizona.

Share with us how you give back: Many years ago, after establishing my career, I joined Soroptimist International of the Arizona Peaks, eventually serving with them in a leadership role a few times over. The work we did, and continue to do, moved me. When I joined Pioneer Title eons ago, I also joined the board of directors for BOTHANDS, which is now Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona. I am proud of giving what has now been 20 years of service, which also includes support of Sharon Manor, a transitional home for women fleeing domestic violence. While at Soroptimist, I started a nonprofit called Hope’s Closet, which for more than a decade helped women in need. I am proud to financially support local arts like the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra by sponsoring a chair as well as with a monthly contribution. I was also on the board of directors for five years. I was also extremely honored to help oversee our company’s Arizona Trail Association partnership in recent years. As the program’s chair, I helped ensure our collectives offices in Arizona walked, ran or rode horseback across the entire Arizona trail – more than 800 miles in total – while raising funds for its maintenance. We were so successful that we were able to establish trail improvements and even a commemorative item for those who would go on to finish the entire trail on their own for years to come. Most recently I helped establish the Northern Arizona Housing Fund, putting together a system where home buyers, sellers, realtor and lenders could contribute funds at the time of closing on a transaction with Pioneer and other local title companies. In just a year, we’ve collected more than $100,000! The money is distributed in the form of grants to area housing nonprofits to assist the community with a housing crisis. Finally, I work with our teams across Northern Arizona to help get the out and volunteering as well, notably winter coat drives, cooking for shelters, jeans days to raise funds for nonprofits and much more.

Share with us why you give back: I give back because life has been good to me, and because my parents instilled the mindset in me from a young age. I have a successful career, a great family, I live in a city I love, I have a very comfortable home and I am surrounded by amazing friends. Our life as a family has been blessed in Flagstaff, and I know that it is sometimes difficult to have all those things. I want to do anything I can with my time, my talents and especially my financial contributions to make life a bit brighter for everyone that needs help in our community.

Tell us about one nonprofit you support and why: One of the organizations I contribute to annually to Catholic Charities Foster Care. I feel there is no better place to put my money than into an organization that works to make a home for so many young people whose future would be in question without their help. I grew up in a safe warm environment with loving parents, and I wish that for every child that is born.
