First fashion job: Jimmy’s – a clothing store that was current on the newest trends. I worked retail, but it was cool because we were always making mood board collages for the customers to see so they new what to wear and how to style their outfits.

When did you know you had a passion for fashion: Ever since I was young I used to make Barbie clothes, and then started to make some of my own clothes as well.

Person who has impacted your life the most: My professor Nashelli Ortiz has made a huge impact in my life. She has taught me so much about the fashion industry and how to make a collection. She is a strong woman and is constantly continuing to out do herself.

Your biggest fashion accomplishment in your eyes: My biggest fashion accomplishment was when I won Pins and Needles last year in 2015. It is a major fashion designer competition in St. Louis, being in Pins and Needles gave me the confidence in myself and my designs.

The biggest obstacle you have overcome: The biggest obstacle I have overcome was competing in Pins and Needles. It was the first time that I was making a collection on my own and I only had 2 months to make a cohesive 10 look collection.

A Designer who inspires you: Michael Kors, knowing that he started by making raincoats in his moms basement after he had dropped out of school, and how he built a multi million dollar company, gives me drive and motivation that I can to!

Favorite quote: “People will stare, make it worth their while.” Harry Winston

Advice to someone pursuing a career in fashion as a designer: Just when you think something isn’t possible, you make it work! Fashion design is not easy, but as long as you have the drive and motivation you can prevail.

Favorite piece you have ever designed.
