Each week we will be highlighting one of the fabulous emerging designers from Phoenix Fashion Week 2017. This week, meet fashion designer Clifford A. Daing, the Founder and Designer of Cliff D. Creations. Cliff D. Creations is a clothing like described as “haute couture to empower women.”
Hometown: Suarez, Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte, Mindanao 9200
First fashion job: My First professional job as a fashion designer is when I created a National Costume and evening gown for my partner and we won for Best in National Costume and Best in Evening Gown.
When did you know you had a passion for fashion: Since grade school. I remembered that I mixed and matched my clothes; reconstruct and doing costumes for the stage play in my school.
Person who has impacted your life the most: First my mom and my brothers, who are always there to support me in any endeavor I’m going to, they are always there during my ups and downs, without them I’m nothing. Second, my partner who pushes me to be a fashion designer (who I am today).
Your biggest fashion accomplishment in your eyes: My biggest fashion accomplishment is to be one of the Top 15 finalist of emerging designer, Phoenix Fashion Week because not all who auditioned pass and I’m blessed and grateful to be part of the growing family of Phoenix Fashion Week.
The biggest obstacle you have overcome: I think there isn’t biggest obstacle in my life because I overcome it all and I have the control on what I give and what I receive. Obstacles are the key ingredients to become a better you.
A Designer who inspires you: Alexander Mcqueen. I love Alexander Mcqueen creations because every piece is a master piece, no rules to follow, no boundaries, and all are over the top creations.
Favorite quote: “As A designer, you’ve always got to push yourself forward; you’ve always got to keep up with the trends or make your own trends. That’s what I do.” –Alexander Mcqueen
Advice to someone pursuing a career in fashion as a designer: Dream, Believe, and work hard. You have to dream of what you want to become, and keep on dreaming until your last breath, you have to believe in yourself that you can do and you can reach your dreams, you have to work hard until you reach your dreams. Be open-minded to hear criticism and use it to do good things. Be humble, be inspired, and be grateful to everyone. Learn, learn, and learn.
