Each week we will be highlighting one of the fabulous emerging designers from Phoenix Fashion Week 2019. This week, meet Henry Mariner, the designer of Night Prowler Apparel, creating athletic apparel built for men.
Hometown: Phoenix, AZ
What is unique about your brand: Our Brand Story – A few years back I was in a situation where I felt a piece of my soul was yanked out of me. I had the unique experience of seeing both sides of the spectrum, from spiritual and physical. I was told by God to create armor for spiritual warfare. So I created Night Prowler Apparel.
What is your brand’s style: The style of a super hero.
What footprint/legacy will your brand leave the world with: My brand will bring awareness to spiritual warfare in the spirit realm and will give people a mindset of preparation for this fight.
First fashion job: Not really a fashion job, but my first job/retail position was at TJ Maxx.
When did you know you had a passion for fashion: My background is actually in music. So I am an artist. I love to create. I needed another creative outlet after my situation, because I felt drained. So I began designing mens blazers.
Person who has impacted your FASHION life the most: Brian Hill and Alison Caliway – They helped pull me out of a shell.
Your biggest fashion accomplishment (SO FAR) in your eyes: Winning Digital Emerging Designer Bootcamp this past year, and also being accepted to PHXFW this October.
The biggest FASHION obstacle you have overcome: Not having enough capital to order our clothing after we already took preorders!
A designer who inspires you: Kanye West – His fearless attitude to conquer the industry without being brought up into it.
Favorite quote: “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Abraham Lincoln
Advice to someone pursuing a career in fashion as a designer: Don’t do it!
How has the Phoenix Fashion Week #DesignerBootcamp impacted your brand? It has helped to place focus on the areas that are key to building a successful brand and business. It has elevated our confidence as a brand as well.
What can fans expect to see from your collection in October: Music meets Fashion. A creative representation of what we stand for, and also more color.
