Fabulous Designer: The Tie Dye Company

Each week we will be highlighting one of the fabulous emerging designers from Phoenix Fashion Week 2019. This week, meet Dalton England, the designer of The Tie Dye Company, creating vibrant apparel for positive people.

Hometown: Gilbert, AZ.

What is unique about your brand: We are using our brand as a vehicle for creative expression, putting the spotlight on the consumer and pioneering opportunities for positive lifestyles.

What is your brand’s style: Loud and colorful. We embrace being different and standing out.

First fashion job: I never considered any of them to be jobs, but the first shirt I sold was for $10 to a friend of mine. It didnā€™t have a logo or anything on it, but I had $0 at the time, and I remember telling her ā€œIā€™ll make this go a long way.ā€ Iā€™m happy I was able to keep that promise.

When did you know you had a passion for fashion: I am still in the process of learning this every day. I feel that my true passion lies within being an artist and fashion is the current platform that is allowing me to share that passion.

Person who has impacted your FASHION life the most: Honestly, the whole team at Phoenix Fashion Week. I canā€™t give all the credit to one person, because itā€™s been a collective impact. Two months ago, you wouldnā€™t hear the word fashion come out of my mouth. The team at Phoenix Fashion Week introduced me to fashion and have put me on the right path to succeed in the industry. Without them, I think Iā€™d still be wandering around aimlessly.

Your biggest fashion accomplishment (SO FAR) in your eyes: Being selected as an Emerging Designer. Thatā€™s a title I would have never guessed Iā€™d get.

The biggest FASHION obstacle you have overcome: This might not sound like an obstacle to most people, but for me, collections have been the biggest obstacle. In my mind, I have been creating paintings on garments. Iā€™ve been having fun with it and creating as many new and unique pieces as possible, so when I started looking into releasing my first collection, I had to do a lot of thinking and narrowing down options. I still havenā€™t picked my own favorites for designs, so dropping a collection with just a select few has been a challenge.

A designer who inspires you: KidSuper. His story is inspiring, his line is dope, and his runway shows are mind-blowing.

Favorite quote: ā€œThe best life lived is a life lived giving.ā€

Advice to someone pursuing a career in fashion as a designer: Cut out all the noise and only listen to your gut. Everybody is looking for the same thing at the end of the day and all you have to do is make sure youā€™re taking steps towards that end-goal, regardless of where you are at right now.

How has the Phoenix Fashion Week #DesignerBootcamp impacted your brand? It has completely kicked it into gear. The bootcamp really is a bootcamp, itā€™s no joke. I wouldnā€™t have done all these things to lay down the foundation of the business side without it. Iā€™m grateful for this opportunity in so many ways and know this is just the beginning of this marathon.

What can fans expect to see from your collection inĀ October: In October, I am showcasing my ā€œRoy G. Bivā€ collection. It is my first collection ever and highlights everything I have worked on since the start of my journey with this brand. Every color, every pattern, and every ounce of fun Iā€™ve had. I think I might turn some heads with it.
