Hometown: I am from the tiny town of Nyssa, Oregon.

First job: I was a newspaper boy at the age of 10.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I love spending time with my family. I am very involved in my kids’ various athletic activities and even coach their teams where I can. My daughter recently started cheerleading and gymnastics, so sports take up a good portion of my free time. Aside from that, I spend time with my church, journal, work out and then, at least a few times a month, I love to get out for a round of golf.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: My biggest accomplishment is that I have helped many people build their businesses. The culmination of everything I do is to create and to build. My biggest motivators are helping others, providing for my family and giving others a way to provide for theirs. It’s very fulfilling when your success can be measured by how many lives you’ve improved and how many people you’ve helped and influenced.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: One of my biggest obstacles has been associating with partners who don’t believe in a company’s vision as much as I do. I am incredibly loyal to people and to my belief in their success. It hits me hard when people quit on our ideas, what we have built and, more importantly, on themselves. I am still working to navigate how to handle these natural pitfalls.

Someone who inspires you and why: Elon Musk. I love his drive and his ability to focus on a goal. He can ignore and filter out the naysayers to the point where he may not even be aware the naysayers’ exist. Self-doubt is a big struggle for me and most entrepreneurs. Musk seems to have figured out how to turn the self-doubt switch off, and I aspire to do the same.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Stop fearing failure, dream big and start. Too many people think they have to have the perfect plan in place before they begin and never do. Entrepreneurship is a constant learning and growth journey, so there’s no reason not to start the process.

Favorite quote: “The goal is not to live forever. The goal is to create something that does.” —Unknown

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I am more of an introvert than an extrovert. After an event where I have been connecting with people for several hours, I have to give myself some space and recharge my social battery.

What makes someone fabulous: Being their own person. I get so sick of seeing the same personality copied over and over on social media. We were each created with our own talents and abilities, and I believe that every person has something unique that they can add to our society.
