Hometown: Born and raised in Scottsdale Arizona. Arizona is where my heart is.

First job: My very first job I started Oct 5th, 1 day after my 14th birthday at the pizza parlor on 56th st and Bell, then called Richie’s pizza.

Favorite AZ restaurant: I absolutely love sushi, so one of the places I frequent most often is Sushi Brokers. Besides the amazing food, I pride myself on supporting local businesses. Having known the owners, there’s a sense of community when you walk in.

Person who has impacted your life the most: My grandmother… I am going to try and write this without tearing up. She was the most beautiful, charismatic, loving woman, and she was my best friend. Growing up in the depression, her view on life was humbling. She taught me how to be a strong independent woman. She taught me unconditional love and how to gamble and make an amazing white Russian. There was never a dull moment in our home. She passed away on September 21, 2007 and for the past 10 years there has not been a decision I’ve made in my life that I don’t talk to her about; if only heaven had a phone. There’s no doubt she was my biggest cheerleader and she is my guardian angel.

Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: There’s no doubt being a Mom is one of the biggest accomplishments in my life. I always envisioned myself being a mom, and WOW I was a really good Mom before I had kids. Growing up facing medical issues I was not supposed to be able to have children, and here I am with 3 beautiful boys; exactly what I had dreamt of… being a cool boy mom. I wish I could say it was easy. I had my handsome Ryder at 23 years old as if god had sent him down to raise me. He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and I would die for his lips. Then I was so blessed to adopt my son Kameron from my sister. He is an old soul and my guiding light. Years later came my sweet little Colby who joined my universe a little too early but persevered. His soul is so pure and raw and he has taught me so much. While these 3 boys were busy raising me, I knew I wanted to create an empire, inspire, educate, and empower them to one day follow in my footsteps. This is when I decided to start Ashlee Miller Artistry, my own freelance makeup business. I opened a salon called Something Beautiful with my beautiful business partner Amber; without her I wouldn’t be where I am. I would say my biggest accomplishment is surrounding myself with incredible people. My Village!

The biggest obstacle you have overcome: Confidence. I did not grow up as a young, strong, and confident woman. In fact, it was quite the opposite. I had big dreams and aspirations, but that’s all they were. I NEVER had the confidence to fulfill those dreams. I was in pageants, modeled, and told I was pretty, but I didn’t believe in myself. It took almost 33 years to find self-love and truly believe I was, and am a powerful, strong, and beautiful woman. I have spent the past 12 months reinventing Ashlee… The journey is far from over, however I have made it my mission to help other women find their confidence; through my mission it has truly made me realize how powerful self-perception is.

Someone who inspires you: I have thought about this question for a while and I couldn’t pin point one individual. You see I truly believe that this life is such an incredible journey and each person is a part of it and adds a dash of inspiration.

Favorite quote: “Behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women”

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: I would encourage them to follow their passion, never give up, be patient, and always think with purpose. Being an entrepreneur is not easy. There are long hours, over worked and under paid, but I can promise you in the end it will all be worth it.

What makes someone fabulous: The definition of fabulous is “Almost impossible to believe; incredible.” To me fabulous means someone who walks with grace, integrity, wears their heart on their sleeve, inspires those around them, encourages and empowers others, and finds success in helping others become successful.
