Hometown: Boulder, Colorado

First job: Dog walker at the Boulder County Humane Society, youth basketball referee at the Boulder County YMCA and equipment rental counter gopher at Robb’s Music (all at the same time – I’ve always stayed pretty busy).

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I work a ton of hours, so that’s really always my first priority, but I also involve myself in lots of different things on the side as well. In addition to playing with cool cars and motorcycles, I attend a lot of Coyotes hockey games, spend significant amount of time in boxing gyms, play blues guitar and I’m a slightly better-than-average wannabe chef. I also enjoy art, firearms training and hanging out with my awesome Italian Greyhound.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: My life is sort of an endless string of thoroughly ridiculous and highly unlikely adventures and with all that tends to come a lot of accolades. With this said, I would consider my biggest accomplishment to be getting this far and still being able to do as much cool stuff as I’m lucky to be able to continue to do. I get to have fun, pretty much all the time and for that I consider myself extremely lucky.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Our biggest challenge to date was a situation that occurred at my house in mid-2019. During a minor construction job, an accident occurred and my house was essentially destroyed. This forced me to not only relocate to a hotel for the better part of a year, but also run my fledgling business there as well. Fortunately, I have an amazing team and we pulled together and came out significantly better than we went in. I’m incredibly fortunate to have an organization that is built from such unique, dedicated and enormously talented people and there’s no way I would be where I am today without them. They are the foundation of Motorwerks and they are what makes doing this every day so much fun.

Someone who inspires you and why: It’s impossible to name one person who does this for me. One of the things that is so amazing about this business is the fact that you don’t really get to swim in this pond unless you’ve done something big someplace else first. Essentially, every single person that we deal with on a day-to-day basis qualifies as inspirational in one way or another. We are surrounded by incredible, accomplished people all the time and that provides for one of the most amazing learning environments you could ever hope to ask for. Every meeting, every phone call, etc. is potentially like a TED Talk and that’s certainly one of my favorite things about what we do for sure.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: First and foremost, understand that this business is HARD. If you come in thinking that you are going to spend all your time playing with Concours-level cars and become an overnight TV star, you’re not going to last very long and you are likely going to have a very tough time while you’re here. Once you get your ego/expectations in line, put yourself around the smartest people you can find, then screw up a lot and be yourself about it. After that, own it and learn from it. Not sure that’s the world’s greatest game plan (definitely wear a helmet and buy insurance…), but so far it has worked pretty well for me.

Favorite quote: “The key to life is rabbits. If you don’t have at least one hiding up each sleeve, eventually you’ll run out of magic.” –my dad

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I’m much more passionate about collecting motorcycles than I am about cars. My family was in the motorcycle business, so bikes will always be first in my heart.

What makes someone fabulous: People with a fierce desire to test their own boundaries and then turn that into something not only for themselves, but also for the people around them, in my opinion, will always be pretty fabulous. At the end of the day, the most important part of life is those you share it with and if you can elevate those people while improving yourself, there aren’t too many things more fabulous than that
