Hometown: Globe, Arizona

First job: Wrapping customers’ gifts in my aunt’s clothing store. I participated in buying clothing at the fashion markets for the store. I gained a deep appreciation for fashion.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: Anywhere in nature where I can hike, animal/bird watch, kayak or just sightsee.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Becoming a private airplane pilot after surviving a serious motorcycle accident. I love the freedom I feel in the air – up, down, sideways and upside down! It is an extraordinary experience to fly through the canyons of Arizona, seeing wildlife and parts of the landscape you just can’t see from the ground. It’s very uplifting.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: I was in a motorcycle wreck my first year in college that took me out of the flow of life for two years. My left leg was severely damaged. I spent three months in the hospital, five months in a wheelchair and the balance of a two-year recovery on crutches with a full-leg cast. Although I still have physical issues, I don’t let it dampen my spirit. It has been a gift that slowed me down enough to understand what was important to me and how strong I can be in extreme adversity.

Someone who inspires you and why: My clients. They humbly sign up for coaching to help them become better leaders. They courageously open themselves to understanding how they are perceived and work hard to become authentic, conscious leaders.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Pursue what you feel passionate about. With passion as your driver, you will do well no matter what it is you are doing.

Favorite quote: “Do something every day that scares you.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I dance every day. Dance for me is a form of meditation that quiets my mind through unstructured movements in the body.

What makes someone fabulous: Being curious. Curiosity begets a growth mindset. Learning from differences, not fearing them.
