Hometown: South Los Angeles, but we now live in Paradise Valley.

First job: My first job was working as a case manager for the regional center of Westside in California. I managed over 100 cases for children and adults. There are 22 regional centers in California. They are state and federally funded to provide all types of services to children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I like to spend time with my children, working out and having a cocktail with my husband in a nice restaurant.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: My biggest accomplishment has been being able to develop three amazing companies for children and adults with developmental disabilities. We started with one client in 2011 and grew that to more than 1,000 clients. I was also the first person in my family to go to college.  Growing up in South Los Angeles wasn’t easy, but I was able to keep focus and maintain my goals and dreams about becoming someone successful one day.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: In 2011, the state informed me that there was no guarantee I would succeed with my company.

Someone who inspires you and why: There is no person who inspires me more than strong Latinas in the workforce that have evolved from poverty.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Be persistent to what you want and never let anyone say you can’t do it.

Favorite quote: “There is no evil that does not come for good.”

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I was raised in South Los Angeles and despite it being a bad part of California, it didn’t make a difference for me. A person becomes successful when they work toward their dreams and aspirations in life.

What makes someone fabulous: The personality of the person makes someone fabulous, and the story behind their great accomplishments.
