Hometown: Stanley, Wisconsin
First job: I grew up on a large family owned cattle ranch and dairy farm in Wisconsin. As a very little girl I would follow my Dad around the farm and was responsible for feeding the baby calves, bailing hay, cleaning the milk house. My Dad paid me twenty five cents an hour and taught me the value of hard work at a very young age.
Favorite AZ restaurant: There are so many amazing restaurants here, but I love Arcadia and supporting local. At the heart of our community here in Arcadia is LGO (La Grande Orange Grocery & Pizzeria). We love to ride our bikes there for dinner, visit the bake shop and connect with the neighborhood.
Person who has impacted your life the most: My children. I have two amazing kids that teach me what life is all about everyday. Motherhood has made me into a more compassionate mother, nurse, daughter, friend, neighbor and the list goes on.
Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: I’ve had many wonderful opportunities in my life. At the top of list is the accomplishment of becoming a nurse. Any nurse out there will tell you nursing school isn’t for the faint at heart. I decided to pursue my passion for nursing as a single mom with two very young kids. While my timing might not have been ideal, my passion and the sisterhood of my fellow nurses carried me through it. Now I have the most amazing career that allows me to care for people and do what I love.
Someone who inspires you: Pastor Jeff Schrank at Christ Lutheran Church and School in Phoenix. My kids and I get a weekly dose of inspiration, gratitude and humor from his lessons and positive presence on the community. He inspires me as an example of the tremendous positive impact just one individual can have to change the lives of others.
The biggest obstacle you have overcome: Unplugging. Technology as really taken over so many parts of our lives. I’ve had to set limits for our family. We make a point every evening to put our phones away at sunset and be present with each other.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Cosmetic Nursing is a very competitive field that requires an artistic perfectionist nature and a very skilled hand. These techniques take years to develop and refine so it’s important to find a cosmetic nurse mentor at the start of your career for proper training.
