First job: Intern for Senator Dominici in Washington, D.C. Great opportunity to observe the legislative process and learn what happens behind the scenes.
Favorite AZ restaurant: Nick’s. Good Italian food, small restaurant with pleasant ambiance.
Person who has impacted your life the most: Blair Benjamin, former General Counsel of Samaritan, now Banner Health. His door was always open, and no question was ever stupid. He gave me the opportunity to work in health care and supported me along my journey.
Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: Having three successful children. Raising children is the hardest and most rewarding task I have ever undertaken. I pushed them (hard at times), then encouraged them to find their own paths.
The biggest obstacle you have overcome: Learning to speak in public. In my initial public speaking class, I was too intimidated to say my name. Now I love speaking to groups and do so frequently.
Someone who inspires you: My mother. She forged a terrific path before women were accepted, including serving as National Vice President of the League of Women Voters and convincing the Maine legislators to support the ERA, drafting the city charter for Albuquerque, and serving on the City Council. She is bright, personable, and warm. She is my role model and best friend.
Favorite quote: No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Take the plunge. A career in healthcare is exciting and forever changing.
What makes someone fabulous: A fabulous person is warm, confident, calm, and comfortable everywhere.
