Fabulous People: LeTisha Jackson

LeTisha Jackson is a Glendale-based author and women’s empowerment advocate. Jackson is a writer with a core focus on female dynamics that can be changed for the good in order to strengthen global sisterhood. Learn about LeTisha Jackson…

Hometown: Detroit, MI.

First job: Little Caesars in Michigan. That job began my life-training in interacting respectfully with people from all backgrounds.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I love spending free time with my mother and taking photos of the beautiful sky you only get in Arizona.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Being featured on the show “The List” with Kristina Guerrero. It is one of my largest accomplishments to date because it came about by making genuine connections within the media with women who’ve offered me their unwavering support.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Getting signed with a literary agent. But that hasn’t stopped me from landing various features on television, in magazines as well as at international women’s speaking events.

Someone who inspires you and why: While I am proud of the success of many women, I am not inspired by anyone rich or famous. I am inspired by the single mothers, like my own, who raise kind and loving children; by my 94-year-old grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer’s because while she may not remember me by name, she remembers we love each other. Women who fight through cancer, domestic violence, adultery and other life-changing events, but come out on the other side and extend their support and lift up others are the kind of women who inspire me.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Write from the heart. Write in a way that is genuine to who you are and don’t let anyone tell you differently. Be passionate about what you’re writing. Know that the hard work comes after you’ve written your book, so be patient. It may not make a best-selling list right away but if you know you’ve written something that needs to be told and heard, it will find its success. Never stop doing the work to get your book in the hands of all whom you believe need to read it.

Favorite quote: “I am my sister’s keeper.” –LeTisha Jackson

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: Despite my history as a model, an actress, a pageant girl and spokesmodel for the International Auto Show Circuit for a large portion of my adult life, I am a loner.

What makes someone fabulous: Their humility no matter what level of fame or wealth one achieves.
