Hometown: Winthrop, ME

First job: Dog walker.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I love to spend time outside (when the temperature allows it). I do my best to go for hikes regularly, but when that’s not conducive to my schedule, I’ll do a loop at Tempe Town Lake or Papago Park. I am also a member of the Desert Botanical Gardens, and I am there at least once a week to help ease my chronic pain with routine walks.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: My biggest accomplishment has been taking the leap to work for myself full-time. When I look at my family’s vocational tree, no one has ever worked for themselves, so I had to find my own path since I didn’t grow up around anyone who was an entrepreneur.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: Myself. Not many professionals have a similar career path as me, so I’ve had to learn to trust myself and unlearn a lot of the conditioning I’ve soaked up along the way. I try to embrace experimenting within my professional life and my background in improvisation has helped me get creative on how to get out of my way.

Someone who inspires you and why: My friends. It feels important to surround yourself with inspirational friends you can see regularly. It’s a reminder of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make the process seem effortless.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Patience and persistence. It’s a delicate balance that I’ve called the art of the slow hustle. It’s important to be intentional along the way, but you must also keep going.

Favorite quote: “You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.” ―Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I make piggy banks and other functional art with polymer clay. I did craft fairs when I was in high school and I started an Etsy shop in 2006.

What makes someone fabulous: Authenticity. A person radiates when living in alignment and embodying their true self.
