Fabulous People: Tammy Fellows

Sixth-generation Arizona native, Tammy Fellows, is the publisher/owner of Paradise Valley Lifestyle and Scottsdale Lifestyle. Learn about Tammy Fellows…

Hometown: Scottsdale. Lived here most of my life.

First job: My first job was when I was 14, I worked at a candle shop in the Seville Shopping Center in Scottsdale (next to the Railroad Park). I also worked at a kiosk for the same shop in Scottsdale Fashion Square. I was eager to work at a young age because I was saving for my first car when I turned 16 and was very determined to start driving.

Favorite ways to spend your free time in AZ: I love the outdoors, which is perfect when you live in a place like Arizona because it is so beautiful outside (with the exception of those sweltering hot summer days). On any given day, you will find me outside. I enjoy hiking any of the many amazing hiking trails/mountains that Arizona has to offer. I also love a long bike ride down the Scottsdale Greenbelt. We (hubby, four boys and our sweet pup, Ace) love spending time on our boat out on one of the many beautiful lakes nearby. We also enjoy our RV trips and frequent Northern Arizona to escape the summer heat in the red rocks or pines for some fun camping time. We love to visit the Arizona ski hills in the winter for some downhill fun up in Flagstaff at Snowbowl or in Pinetop for Sunrise. Other than that, you will find me enjoying yummy food and libations with family and friends on a great local patio!

Person who has impacted your life the most and why: My mother by far. She always taught me that no dream is unattainable and to always believe in myself. She showed me that if you want something to go after it. She has always been my biggest supporter and my rock! My confidence started with her.

Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes and why: I have four beautiful children (all boys) ranging in ages 8 to 16. They are by far my biggest accomplishment. I am so proud to be their mom. They are all kind, compassionate and loving boys with a competitive edge (pretty sure they got that from me). We tell them to always go after their dreams and teach them that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. They challenge me without a doubt and are my best teachers for many lessons in life.

The biggest obstacle you have overcome: To seize the day, life is short. I have learned to laugh at myself and not take life too seriously. Life is messy. I have learned (still learning) to own where I am at any given time. I remind myself constantly be authentic, even if I’m not where I want to be. That is my reminder to work at my goals and reminds me that I am human. With this, it’s taught me to stop and smell the roses and allow others to be where they are as well.

Someone who inspires you and why: My husband Eric is a huge inspiration to me. He is one of the most positive and happy people I have ever met. He is always finding the humor in life and has an incredible way to find the light in things. He is always encouraging me and our boys to believe in ourselves and to love big. He is my biggest cheerleader which makes me feel like I can do anything. I have such great respect for him and his positive approach to life. He always has me laughing!

Favorite quote: “All you need is love.” –The Beatles

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Figure out your “why.” What is the passion behind your mission and always keep that passion in focus. If you have passion in what you do, it is fun, exciting, meaningful and comes easier. Remain authentic in what you do and seek out what brings you joy, with that, your career will be a success. And always be sure to use your platform for good.

What you think makes someone fabulous: I am a huge fan of people who raise people up and encourage them to do their very best. People need people. In my mind, a fabulous person is a positive, honest and compassionate person who is respectful and helpful to others.
