Hometown: Sedona, AZ

First job:
Jennifer: My first job was working for our family business during my last year of high school, and I also volunteered at our local hospital in the physical therapy unit, which was a good move because I found out that I really didn’t want to be a physical therapist like I thought!
Colleen: My first job was also working for our family business on latrine duty, managed by my sweet mom. My attention to detail and cleanliness is a hats off to her!

Favorite AZ restaurant:
Jennifer: Mariposa, A Latin Inspired Grill in Sedona. I’m pretty partial to it because our family owns the property and the views happen to match those of Ambiente since it’s right next door. The food is amazing, the views are spectacular and Chef Lisa Dahl is a family friend and just an extraordinary mentor and female business leader to follow!
Colleen: My favorite place to go in the Valley is Dick’s Hideaway, because it truly is a hideaway.

Person who has impacted your life the most: Our father, Mike Stevenson, has impacted us both the most. He always thinks creatively and outside of the box, and he lives his life with integrity and kindness, all while accomplishing his goals. He’s shown us both over the years how to reach for the sky, stand up and push forward through obstacles and how to stay humble through the whole, amazing ride.

Your biggest accomplishment in your eyes: The biggest accomplishment for both of us has been raising our amazing children and watching them turn into wonderful adults. We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve all accomplished and seeing them live happy lives is the most satisfying feeling ever.

The biggest obstacle you have overcome:
Jennifer: I think the biggest obstacle in my life has been the period of transitioning out of being a mother into a career-driven woman. I loved being a mother and it’s amazing to see my adult children happy and fulfilled. Now I can concentrate on my future and creating more things to be proud of.
Colleen: For me, the biggest obstacle I had to overcome was having my first marriage end. I’m a “glass-half-full” kind of girl and believe there is always a way, so having to admit defeat was tough.  However, as with all obstacles, the opportunities for growth were plentiful.

Someone who inspires you:
Jennifer: Chef Lisa Dahl of the Dahl Restaurant Group. She is absolutely fearless, has an incredible creative vision and is unstoppable in making things happen.
Colleen: My mom.  She is the reason I can entertain the masses and make a bed that would pass military inspection. I never truly appreciated my mom more than when I became a mom myself.

Favorite quote:
Jennifer: I will walk by faith even when I cannot see.
Colleen: “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Have a clear vision, don’t be in a hurry, seek other’s advice, be open to change, be ready to move left or right and most of all buckle up and enjoy the ride!

What makes someone fabulous: Someone who is authentically themselves, confident and comfortable in their own skin, with strong character and clear direction in life but who also displays kindness, humbleness and generosity.
