Restaurant of the Week: The Bodhi

The Bodhi is a new healthy and nutritious fast-casual restaurant in Tempe near the ASU campus, serving food with purpose at an affordable cost.

One of the founders of The Bodhi is nutritionist Sasha Bayat. Using evidence-based science, Sasha has personally crafted and tailored every dish to meet one (or more) specific health goals.

As expected of a healthy, mindful restaurant, the interior is bright, airy and inviting. You step up to the counter to order where you can choose from signature meals or build your own. All of the dishes can easily fit a Whole 30 or Paleo diet and many of the dishes can also accommodate a vegan, vegetarian or gluten free lifestyle.

The signature items include bowls, salads and breakfast dishes. The Mother Earth Bowl was one of our favorites, made with organic quinoa, onion, sweet potato, mushroom, red pepper, spinach, cucumber and pesto. If you are craving some meat, the The Gaucho Bowl is a fan favorite, made with steak, brown rice, onion, black beans, avocado and chimichurri. You can also build your own bowl, choosing from a variety of healthy ingredients.

There are three salads to choose from, including The Heart Beet, The Mediterranean and The Chopped Vegetable.

For breakfast, there are 3 signature bowls to choose from, our favorite being the Morning Pro Bowl, made with egg whites, avocado, tomato, black beans and a slice of organic whole grain toast on the side (gluten free toast is available).

If you have a sweet tooth, there are oatmeal options, an Acai Bowl and a Very Berry Greek Yogurt.

There are also several fresh pressed juices to choose from, such as the Hangover Fix with kale, kiwi, celery, apple, ginger, parsley and lemon.

The Bodhi also offers catering and meal plan options. The meal plans are extremely affordable with one day consisting of 3 healthy meals costing only $30 (free pick up or an additional $8 for delivery).
