Restaurant of the Week: Agave del Scottsdale

Agave del Scottsdale is a beautiful new upscale and authentic Mexican restaurant situated on the corner of Via de Ventura and Hayden.

Taking over the space that was formerly Butters, the Agave del Scottsdale dining room features vibrant colors, glistening pink chandeliers and a custom made copper-topped bar. The large sliding glass doors off the bar open to the spacious patio that will be a beautiful space to dine in the cooler months.


As far as food and drinks and concerned, Agave del Scottsdale is not your typical Mexican restaurant. They celebrate the vibrant cuisine of Mexico’s many regions including the Yucatan, Mazatlan, Puebla and Veracruz. The chef driven menu includes traditional mole, modern seafood and classic comfort dishes – all made from scratch.


Start your meal with a trio of sopecitos or one of the four different fish ceviches. While everything we tried was delicious, some of the stand out dishes include the Chilean sea bass served with a Coronado pasila chile sauce; the prime filet mignon topped with a creamy corn truffle sauce; and the 48-hour long mole made from recipes passed down through generations served over chicken or pork.

Brunch is offered every Saturday and Sunday until 2pm and features authentic Mexican brunch dishes including Huevo Rancheros and Divorciados.


They also serve hand crafted cocktails, including a variety of margaritas and tequilas. You’ll find 11 speciality margarita options including the Cadillac Margarita, Spicy Cucumber, Agave Watermelon and the Tamarindo to name a few.

Happy Hour is offered 7 days a week, 3-6pm at the bar and social tables and includes discounted food and drinks. Taco Tuesday is every Tuesday, 5-9pm and features $6 tacos at the bar and social tables.


Agave del Scottsdale is open 11am to 10pm Monday – Friday, 9am to 10pm Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sunday.
