Gabriella’s Contemporary American Cuisine—from the husband-and-wife duo of Anthony and Anna Barr—is now open at The Mercado at Scottsdale Ranch. The family-friendly dining concept has a focus on relatable yet playful cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere.
Prior to the pandemic, the Barrs, who have been married for 18 years, were living and working in San Francisco, running the corporate catering and event planning companies, Fork & Spoon Productions and Above & Beyond Catering. After being forced to layoff 50 members of their staff, they decided to make a fresh start in Scottsdale upon falling in love with the area during their very first visit in the spring. Lucky for Phoenicians, the couple’s new adventure included the opening of Gabriella’s Contemporary American Cuisine.
The menu spotlights familiar but elevated American cuisine, including vegan and vegetarian dishes. Highlights of the menu include sweet corn and wild mushroom tamale with cumin crema and avocado salsa; Impossible Sloppy Joe sliders with Daiya cheese; Gabriella’s crispy chicken Bahn Mi with pickled vegetables, roasted jalapeno and cilantro aioli; Dungeness crab and lobster roll; a baked creamy pasta; and much more, including daily specials.
The dessert menu is chock-full of time-honored treats, like strawberry shortcake, while the full bar has a selection of craft cocktails, house wine and local beer.
The welcoming and comfortable interior dining space currently accommodates 40 people, and the large patio can seat up to 60 while still meeting social distancing requirements. Gabriella’s is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Menu is currently available for dine-in and take-out.
