Restaurant of the Week: Cottontail Lounge

As if W Scottsdale wasn’t already one of the most popular spots in Arizona—it’s basically the pinnacle of Old Town Scottsdale’s hip, cultural scene—now it’s expanding into the realm of unequivocally cool brunch spaces too, with its latest addition of the Cottontail Lounge.

The fresh venue replaces the hotel’s former Shade Lounge and adds a level of sophistication to a hotspot generally known for its vibrant nightlife and rooftop WET Deck.

Cottontail Lounge features a bold, structured design that’s met with an unparalleled West Coast flair—think swanky olive sofas, partitions draped in plant accents and organic vines, floor-to-wall desert-centric murals, and an open-air design plan that connects visitors to the rest of the rooftop deck and its sweeping pool views.

The space is designed to accommodate anyone and every occasion—whether you’re looking to enjoy an easy brunch with friends, a sunset cocktail date or even a large-scale evening gathering, the Cottontail Lounge is as versatile in its appeal as it is aesthetically pleasing in its design.

And in classic W Scottsdale form, the masterfully trendy vibe of the lounge only accounts for half the experience provided to visitors. The real adventure is arguably in the dining.

Some of the can’t-miss menu items include a refreshed twist on a classic huevos rancheros dish, made from a recipe that was reportedly inspired by one of the team members’ mothers—and yes, it’s absolutely as fulfilling (if not more) as a homemade huevos rancheros dish should be. Though, The Hangover, a grilled sourdough sandwich with bacon, egg, ham and cheese, is pretty unforgettable too.

If you’re looking for a sweeter option, the Challah French Toast doused in fresh berries is the perfect alternative, and also proves that—contrary to popular opinion—it is totally possible to improve a next-to-perfect breakfast staple. Who knew?

Cottontail Lounge is open 10 a.m. to 12 a.m., Sunday through Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., Thursday through Saturday. The lounge serves breakfast, weekend brunch, creative cocktails and light bites.

Due to COVID-19, pandemic-friendly measures are in place at Cottontail Lounge to ensure the safety of guests. This includes tables spaced at six feet apart, enhanced outdoor airflow, and plexiglass installations between booths—among other precautionary measures.
