Restaurant of the Week: Marcellino Ristorante

Nestled in Old Town Scottsdale, Marcellino Ristorante offers authentic, decadent Italian cuisine with Chef Marcellino Verzino at the helm.

Chef Marcellino Verzino and his wife Sima moved to New York City from Rome before settling into Scottsdale nearly 20 years ago – and bringing their rich Italian cuisine with them. They opened their original location of Marcellino, which was in Phoenix, in October 2003.

Marcellino Ristorante features an array of hand-made fresh pasta, Mediterranean-inspired seafood and carne dishes. As Chef says, “My food is a culmination of my life’s history, my passion and desire to produce truthful, undiluted Italian cuisine alla Marcellino.

In an effort to provide diners with just enough to satisfy and allow them to taste their way through the menu, Marcellino Ristorante keeps portions light. Kick dinner off with the caprese with fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil and olive oil.

The highly trained staff displays the fresh selection of pasta on a serving platter and walks guests through each decadent offering, featuring in-season produce. While it will be difficult to par down the decision, the paccatelli is a guest favorite. Featuring a short pasta in a hearty ragu of tomato, house-made sausage and herbs, it’s a comfort classic that will become a favorite meal.

Another favorite is the Pollo Saporito, a tender chicken with sauteed mushrooms, sundried tomato and pine nuts. And save room for an after-dinner coffee with Marcellino’s handmade biscotti and tiramisu.

Beyond the indulgent food menu, Marcellino Ristorante features an eclectic wine cellar of the finest Italian wines, many from the Campania region of Italy, Chef Marcellino’s hometown.

Interested in an exclusive tasting? Marcellino Ristorante offers The Dining Cove that features a highly personalized five-course dinner just for two, complete with the perfect wine pairings with Chef Marcellino behind the velvet-draped Cove. Additionally, Marcellino Ristorante’s offers sauces and olive oils for guests to enjoy at home.
