Restaurant of the Week: The Italian Daughter

Developing and managing quality Italian restaurants quite literally runs in the Maggiore family. And now, Melissa Maggiore, daughter of the late and great Chef Tomaso Maggiore, is continuing her father’s legacy of family-oriented food through The Italian Daughter Cucina + Cocktails—an elevated Italian dining space in North Scottsdale.

The restaurant has replaced what was once Tomaso’s When In Rome—another beloved byproduct of the Maggiore Group. While it was one of her father’s last restaurants, Melissa is carrying on in the tradition of serving up authentic, made-from-scratch Italian through this newly opened establishment.

The Italian Daughter’s interior aesthetic feels effortlessly classy and cozy, with modern finishes and other thoughtful touches that pay homage to the Italian culture. And in the evenings, the ambience is elevated even more through live piano music that’s played each night—with tunes from Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra being particular favorites.

Authenticity is ingrained into every detail of The Italian Daughter—from the decor to the hospitality, and most of all, the food.

The menu features a number of traditional Italian dishes—many of which were recipes from Chef Tomaso himself. Pizzas and bruschetta boards are popular beginning dishes to kick off an evening at the refined Italian establishment.

The classic rigatoni and meatballs combination, as well as the campanelle norcina, are choice handcrafted pasta offerings that are as rich in taste as they are beautiful in presentation.

Finally, guests to The Italian Daughter can cap off their evening with several quintessentially Italian desserts like the limoncello cake that boasts an unparalleled freshness, a classic Sicilian cannoli or a decadent tiramisu treat.
The Italian Daughter is open Sunday through Thursday from 3 to 10 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m.
