Since 1958, Sugar Bowl has been the sweetest thing about Scottsdale. The old-fashioned shop serves up the tastiest treats, in cones, sundaes and floats, as well as offers savory soups, sandwiches and salads. This landmark is a Founding Business of Scottsdale and was placed on Scottsdale’s Historic Preservation Register.

Upward Projects, the team behind Postino, Joyride Taco House and Windsor, satisfies our sweet tooth with its ice cream shop, Churn. Order up a scoop of peanut butter ice cream in a pretzel cone for a sweet-and-salty dessert, though you can’t go wrong with any of Churn’s tasty options. Churn also sells baked goods, coffees, old-fashioned candy and cute toys and gifts.
Mary Coyle Ol’ Fashion Ice Cream
A beloved Phoenix staple since the 1950’s, Mary Coyle Ol’ Fashion Ice Cream whips up sundaes, shakes, floats, malts and scoops with ice cream flavors that range from black licorice to rocky road. Dining with a group? Give the Grand Canyon a go, which comes in at 11 pounds and showcases a dozen ice cream flavors—if you dare.
Udder Delights
Gilbert’s Udder Delights touts itself as life-changing ice cream, and everyone who walks in its doors can taste why. For more than a decade, the team at Superstition Farm has used its fresh, local ingredients to create delectable cheeses, artisan butters, cheese-infused desserts and award-winning ice cream. There are dairy-free and vegan options, as well as Pooches N’ Cream treats for pups.
