Restaurant of the Week: Federal Pizza

In honor of National Pizza Month, Uptown Phoenix’s neighborhood staple, Federal Pizza, has just debuted new menu items like refreshing light bites, indulgent sweets and wood-fired pizzas packing some heat.

A visit to Federal Pizza is never one that needs incentives. The Phoenix spot offers a cozy, candlelit environment with an extensive menu offering more than just its staple wood-fired pies. But with new menu items rolled out this month (and a pizza holiday on the line), an already much-needed visit has become exceedingly important.

The new offerings bring an extra kick to the menu, with items like the spicy Flaming Lips. The fresh ‘za is wood-fried with pepperoni, soppressata, gorgonzola, rosemary and a drizzle of the fan-favorite wing sauce, hot chili honey. Guests can also make Flaming Lips or any of their favorite Federal pizzas Dirty Crust-style with an everything bagel seasoning-infused crust for an extra punch of flavor. Another new main is on the lineup is the Chef’s Classic Chicken Parm, offering a modern twist on the classic dish with crispy chicken, mozzarella, marinara, wild baby arugula, macerated Campari, shaved Grana Padano and a side of butter-parm-tossed spaghetti. If you are gluten-free, substitute the pasta for gluten-allergy-friendly noodles.

Cheesy Garlic Bread

If you are looking for something a bit lighter, try the all-new Citrus Grove Salad, made with fresh ruby grapefruit, a light vinaigrette and Grana Padano cheese; or the Cheesy Garlic Bread, with garlicky focaccia bread, decadent cheeses and an arrabiatta dipping sauce. Each dish pairs exceptionally well with one of the sips from the extensive beer and wine list.

Nutella Tiramisu

Be sure to treat yourself to some post-pizza dessert and try the Salted Caramel Banana Pudding, crafted with banana cream, bananas, vanilla cookies, chocolate, whipped cream, salted caramel and candied walnuts; or Nutella Tiramisu with Nutella, hazelnut-mocha-infused ladyfingers, mascarpone mousse and a drizzle of chocolate to top it off. Each treat is also a part of the recently developed menu and are the ultimate way to top off your meal during National Pizza Month.

Stop by on a Monday or Tuesday night between 8 and 11 p.m. for one pizza and a house bottle of wine (or two pitchers of beer) for just $30.
