Arizona Wilderness Brewing Opens Third Location

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. expands in the Valley with the opening of its third location in Phoenix’s historical Miracle Mile neighborhood. The new brewpub aims to breathe new life into one of Phoenix’s oldest commercial corridors.

Once a bustling mid-century shopping district and the first of its kind outside Downtown Phoenix, the Miracle Mile area declined in later decades. However, recent revitalization efforts have begun transforming the area into a vibrant, walkable destination, making it the perfect home for Arizona Wilderness’s newest location.

“I’ve been inspired by old adaptive reuse buildings since the first time I walked into Four Peaks back in college,” says Pat Ware, Arizona Wilderness Brewing co-founder, in a recent press release. “It sets the tone for raw, authentic ambiance rather than a manufactured facade.”

The new location embraces the brand’s mission of blending old with new while preserving the charm of the original building and introducing a fresh food and drink experience centered around sustainability, community, and local partnerships.

“Patrick and I have always been attracted to the older buildings of Phoenix built in a time when architectural nuance had its heyday,” says Jonathan Buford, Arizona Wilderness Brewing co-founder, in a press release. “We had been searching for several years to find a new home for our brewing operations when we learned of this building in the Miracle Mile neighborhood of Phoenix. It was love at first sight! There are certain details that you just can’t manufacture; only time can add these certain beautiful nuances. The bricks had a certain patina to them. The domed roof seemed like it was from ancient times. It had unnecessary alcoves, seemingly added only for aesthetic – which made it even more perfect. This building has a heart to it and was begging for love, as too is the neighborhood it stands in.”

The menu at Arizona Wilderness Miracle Mile will be entirely scratch-made and locally sourced, featuring standout dishes like the Smash Slider Trio, Big McDowell Burger, and Steak Wedge Bowl. Ingredients come from Arizona producers like Arizona Grass Raised Beef and James Beard Award-winning Barrio Bread. A highlight on the menu is The Miracle, a savory steak sandwich showcasing both purveyors.

In true Arizona Wilderness fashion, the location will debut a new house beer to commemorate the space: Miracle Mild, a traditional English Mild brew using 100 percent Sinagua Malt, a sustainable grain grown and processed in the Verde Valley that helps conserve local water.

“Each of our locations has a signature beer that represents each location in some way,” says Brad Miles, Arizona Wilderness Brewing’s head of production, in a recent press release. “Gilbert has Refuge, Arizona IPA, and DTPHX has La Ciudad, Hazy IPA. The Miracle Mile Brewery is intended to be a brewpub for the surrounding community. Historically, an English Mild is what patrons and publicans would drink in their local pubs. With Miracle Mild, I’m trying to create a beer that represents Arizona and celebrates community with a local take on a traditional style.”

Now open, guests can expect great food, beer, and a celebration of community spirit in one of Phoenix’s most storied neighborhoods.
