Restaurant of the Week: Aunt Chilada’s Tempe

Aunt Chilada’s Tempe is a brightly decorated Mexican restaurant at Arizona Grand Resort & Spa. Known for its beautiful, spacious patio and delicious margaritas, Aunt Chilada’s Tempe is a fabulous place to gather friends and family.

A neighborhood favorite since 1986, locals can easily access the restaurant off Baseline Road with ample parking, and hotel guests can follow the signs that lead down a beautiful path from the hotel to the back entrance of the restaurant. The inside and outside of Aunt Chilada’s Tempe are charming with bright colors and Southwest accents. In addition to public dining, the restaurant offers intimate indoor and outdoor spaces for private events. It can host everything from corporate luncheons to weddings and quinceañeras.

The menu features what have been said to be the best margaritas in town, as well as authentic Mexican dishes such as street tacos, burritos, enchiladas and fajitas. The housemade guacamole and street corn to start your meal are a must. The Aunt Chilada’s Nachos are great for the table to share if your group is feeling extra hungry. For entrees, you can’t go wrong with the Tres Enchiladas de Harina with your choice of red or green sauce, or the slow-cooked carnitas platter. Dessert options include Mexican classics – churros, sopapillas and deep-fried ice cream.

The margarita menu includes a classic margarita, frozen margarita, prickly pear and a Mango Ghost Margarita made with local Canyon Diablo Two Ghosts Chili Vodka. In addition to serving up a variety of margaritas, the restaurant has a new cocktail menu featuring over 65 different renowned tequila brands. There are also great non-alcoholic alternatives, including a classic margarita or daiquiri.
