Call Her Martina is a family-owned and -operated restaurant, in which each family member plays a key role. The name of the restaurant is an homage to the matriarchs of the family. Instead of using their real names, the family created a fictional character that embodied strong, female figures in their life.
The menu at Call Her Martina features a variety of traditional Mexican dishes, with a chic twist. Customers rave about the quality of the food, which is prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients and cooked to perfection, including the house-made sauces. The Scottsdale dining destination also has an extensive wine list, along with beers on tap. The craft cocktails (the restaurant is known for its mezcal cocktails) are thoughtfully made and quite delicious. An appetizer that gained popularity from the Super Bowl is the carne asada nachos. Tortillas chips are piled high with bite-sized pieces of carne asada, queso, pico de gallo, salsa and jalapeños, then garnished with fresh cilantro and a large portion of guacamole. This dish is so flavorful, and the pieces of carne asada are very tender.
Taco’n Madre is a hearty, fan-favorite entree that has prime ribeye in a flour tortilla, topped with queso costra and avocado. It is served with a side of salsa and frijoles. The ribeye is perfectly seasoned and extremely tender and can be subbed for chicken, if preferred. Another crowd favorite, the Salmon Fresco Tostada includes fresh salmon pieces loaded on top of a corn tostada, with cucumber, avocado, red onion, citrus sauce and chipotle aioli. This dish is packed with flavor, with the melt-in-your-mouth salmon slivers. The dish is very light and refreshing, but filling with the amount of salmon that is served.
Besides an array of upscale Mexican dishes, you can also find a selection of delectable desserts. From flan (a family recipe) to churro doughnuts to chimichanga cheesecake, there is something to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Call Her Martina is open Tuesday to Thursday, 4 to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (closed on Monday).
