Coming Soon to Downtown Mesa

Downtown Mesa is growing its dining offerings with the opening of Crust Simply Italian in Fall 2023. The popular Valley restaurant will be located on Main Street in a new commercial and residential complex, The GRID.

The Downtown Mesa location will mark Crust Simply Italian’s fourth in the Valley. Crust, an authentic East Coast eatery, first opened in 2007 in Scottsdale with additional locations in Chandler and Gilbert. serving pasta dishes, Italian-style rustica-shaped pizzas and refreshing craft cocktails. The new restaurant will include a full wrap-around patio that will sit on Main Street, a bar that will seat 25 and sprawling garage doors will add to the open design and kitchen concept. Alongside Crust will be a new speakeasy-style cocktail lounge and bar, as well.

“We are thrilled to open our fourth Crust concept in Downtown Mesa,” says Michael Merendino, owner of Crust Simply Italian, in a press release. “Within this growing and thriving educational, business and residential community, we look forward to welcoming families and friends to our restaurant to enjoy a delicious meal in a fun, friendly and inviting atmosphere.”

Meanwhile, The GRID will comprise 300 apartments and office spaces with multiple restaurant options. The mid-rise, mixed-use structure is found on 3.3 acres in Downtown Mesa and boasts a rooftop lounge, vibrant garden courtyards, large storage spaces, fitness areas, a large pool, 14,000 square feet of co-work and office spaces and much more for residents.

“The GRID will offer a unique blend of opportunities for residents and retailers,” says Nancy Hormann, president of the Downtown Mesa Association, in a press release. “A unique living and working space with sprawling ground floor eateries, Crust’s authentic Italian-American fare will be a welcomed addition amongst downtown’s diverse restaurant concepts.”
