Elvira’s Now Open at DC Ranch

sThe beloved Mexican restaurant Elvira’s has recently opened its highly anticipated DC Ranch location. Elvira’s has been a cherished restaurant since its establishment in 1927 in Nogales. Known for its authentic flavors, artistic presentation, and immersive dining experience, Elvira’s has brought its culinary legacy to the North Scottsdale community.

Originally a family-owned restaurant, Elvira’s has grown into a culinary destination under the visionary leadership of Chef Ruben Monroy, the founder’s grandson. Its Tubac location has garnered a loyal following for its innovative take on traditional Mexican cuisine. Now, Elvira’s is expanding its legacy with its location in Scottsdale at DC Ranch, offering a welcoming atmosphere designed to captivate diners with a blend of tradition and modernity.

“Our expansion to DC Ranch represents an exciting new chapter for Elvira’s,” says Tom Kaufman, owner of Kaufman Hospitality, in a recent press release. “We are thrilled to bring the flavors, artistry, and hospitality of Elvira’s to the Scottsdale community, and we look forward to creating lasting memories for our guests here.”

Elvira’s at DC Ranch features signature dishes that have made the Tubac location famous, including the Frida Kahlo Chile Poblano (a poblano pepper stuffed with a savory filling, topped with chipotle frijole sauce and Oaxaca cheese) and the Mole Negro (chile chilhuacle rojo, pasilla cascabel, chile mulato, chipotle, sesame cacao, and plantains). Other standout dishes include a variety of molcajetes, moles, and seafood. To enhance the dining experience, interactive elements include tableside preparation of select dishes and stunning plating techniques that turn each meal into a work of art.

“Our menu at DC Ranch is a homage to tradition while embracing innovation,” says Chef Chris George, in a press release. “We want every plate to tell a story, blending authentic recipes with modern culinary techniques to deliver something truly special.”

The cocktail menu includes an extensive wine list, margaritas, bottled beer, and craft cocktails. Highlights include the classic Elvira’s Don Julio Margarita, combining Elvira’s private tequila reposado with orange liquor, agave, and lime for an elevated classic, and the Xalisco Margarita, made with reposado tequila, jalapeno, cucumber, cilantro, and lime to create a spicy yet refreshing drink. Other cocktails include a tequila-based old-fashioned, red sangria, and the Martini de Cafe, a twist on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila.

The dining experience at Elvira’s DC Ranch goes beyond the plate. As you enter the candlelit restaurant, the breathtaking decor will transport guests with handcrafted glass chandeliers, hanging lanterns, traditional Mexican artwork, and limestone sculptures, combining heritage with the sophistication of Scottsdale living. Rich red curtains frame the interior, offering a glimpse of the outdoor seating area that wraps around the restaurant.

“Our goal is to create a space where guests feel transported yet at home—a celebration of culture and community,” says Kaufman.

Elvira’s DC Ranch promises a one-of-a-kind fusion of authentic Mexican cuisine and contemporary elegance. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the Tubac location or experiencing Elvira’s for the first time, this new chapter is set to become a cornerstone of Scottsdale’s dining scene.

Elvira’s is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, from 4 to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 4 to 11 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
