Mowry & Cotton is a stylish standout among The Phoenician’s impressive collection of restaurants. It is a welcoming space decked in warm woods, plaid textiles, and industrial-inspired design touches, paired with a sleek bar for enjoying a drink and the day’s biggest sporting event. Here, couples toasting to a special occasion are just as comfortable as hungry families who just spend the day splashing away at one of the resort pools.
The buttermilk buns are a superstar starter and sure to please everyone at the table. This next-level bread basket is paired with citrus sea salt butter, duck fat butter, and a seasonal jam. The shishito peppers are just as memorable, uniquely topped with crunchy bits of kimchi waffle. The lineup of sides and salads are chock-full of delicious, comforting options, including the colorful Mowry Chop, with avocado, corn, peppers, cotija, black currants, pheasant, mole, and a sherry vinaigrette.
Entrees at Mowry & Cotton are hearty, ranging from a cowboy ribeye to a charred hanger steak to Mowry’s Heritage Chicken paired with a variety of bright summer-friendly flavors (fresh corn polenta, grilled snap peas, spring onions, and charred meyer lemon). A handful of seafood dishes are also up for grabs, including the delicate and lightly spicy crab bowtie, featuring housemade pasta, corn cream, burrata, Calabrian chili, and citrus crumb.
Mocktails, beer and wine (by the glass, half bottle or bottle) are available on Mowry & Cotton’s extensive drink list, as well as top-notch cocktails. The Sheriff is a can’t-miss signature sip (Phoenician Herradura Double Barrel Reposado Tequila, canton ginger, pineapple, ginger syrup, and Angostura and orange bitters) as is the Smoked Old Fashioned (Michter’s US1 Kentucky straight rye whiskey, Angostura and chocolate bitters, and vanilla bean syrup), which is smoked tableside.
Through Sept. 3 for $45 per person, Mowry & Cotton presents its Culinary Countdown Series. The three-course menu includes a choice of avocado Caesar salad or veal-and-black-garlic meatballs to start, followed by Scottish salmon or charred hanger steak and, finally, a tempting chocolate dessert.
