New DC Ranch Speakeasy: The Peacock

Hidden within The Living Room, a popular dining destination in Scottsdale‘s DC Ranch, lies The Peacock, a discreet cocktail lounge shrouded in mystery and opulence. This exclusive setting envelopes guests deep into a bygone era with intriguing decor, old-world tomes, and a globally inspired menu that reflects the extensive travels of owner Tom Kaufman.

Tucked away within The Living Room in Scottsdale’s DC Ranch, The Peacock is an alluring cocktail lounge hidden in the depths of the dining room. Guests can discover the entrance by wandering through The Living Room until they spot a glowing neon green peacock above an unassuming door. Behind this door, The Peacock’s secret world awaits.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a moody and luxurious atmosphere, with the glow of countless candles illuminating the dim space. The intimate lounge is adorned with lush peacock feathers, opulent wallpaper, and shelves lined with antique books. Adding to the ambiance, unique pieces from Kaufman’s personal collection, such as an ethically sourced zebra skin and a mounted elk, provide a touch of old-world charm. Every Thursday night, the lounge comes alive with live saxophone and piano performances, further enhancing the sophisticated vibe.

“The Peacock is designed to be the perfect escape for those seeking something unique,” says Kaufman, in a press release. “It’s hidden and refined, yet welcoming—a space that feels special but accessible to anyone looking for an exclusive night out.”

Chef Chris George leads the kitchen with an indulgent yet approachable menu, offering dishes meant to be shared. Guests can enjoy hand-rolled sushi, artisanal flatbreads, and signature plates like roasted bone marrow with grilled bruschetta, pickled mustard, and shallot; the Filet Trilogy with blue cheese, basil hollandaise, and mushrooms; and Oysters Rockefeller with bacon, parmesan, spinach, and artichoke. For sushi lovers, the must-try sushi charcuterie board offers an array of hand-rolled selections accompanied by ginger and wasabi.

The cocktail menu, curated by spirits expert Dakota Watts, is just as impressive. Highlights include the Peacock 75 with Empress Gin, lemon, and Prosecco; Sex Panther, with mezcal, ancho verde, Triple Sec, agave, cucumber, lime, and cilantro; and the TFK Smoked Old Fashioned made with Eagle Rare 10-Year bourbon, orange, bitters, hickory smoke, and a smoked cherry. In addition to its creative cocktails, The Peacock boasts over 200 wine selections, alongside a variety of whiskey, bourbon, and beer offerings.

The Peacock is open Thursday to Saturday, from 5 to 10 p.m.
