Phoenix’s Best Pumpkin and Oktoberfest Eats

From pumpkin cookies, coffee and waffles to the finest brats, beer and pretzels in honor of Oktoberfest, these Valley restaurants are ready for October. Check out these festive, fall-inspired eats and drinks before the peppermint mochas start appearing.

Chompie’s rolls out its pumpkin and Halloween goods early October, including pumpkin bagels, decorated Halloween sugar cookies, pumpkin muffin loaf and pumpkin crème brûlée. Chompie’s has locations Valleywide.

U.S. Egg is bringing back the pumpkin-flavored version of its signature protein pancake. The restaurant, with six Arizona locations, also offers a pumpkin spice-flavored version of its fluffy, traditional waffles, which pair well with a cold or hot coffee with pumpkin-flavored creamer and house-made pumpkin spice. For an extra kick, the drink can be made with whiskey.

Mavrix in Scottsdale has unveiled a new brunch menu featuring creative cocktails and season-friendly dishes served Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Plus, receive a free $10 game card with the purchase of any brunch entree or the Full Belly Bloody Mary!) A can’t-miss addition for pumpkin lovers is The Basic, a Rebel Brand hard pumpkin spiced latte with vanilla vodka, served on ice and topped with whipped cream, caramel and a touch of cinnamon.

Pedal Haus Brewery

Pedal Haus Brewery in Tempe and Chandler has launched its widely-adored Oktoberfest beer and menu, so guests can look forward to fall-friendly favorites like Von Hanson’s Beer Brats, Von Hanson’s Big Poppa Brats, pork schnitzel and more. On Oct. 23, from noon to 4 p.m., the brewery hosts the annual Rob Dollar Foundation Memorial Ride Kick-Off Party (the ride takes place the next day). Guests can enjoy the patio weather and sip Pedal Haus’ recently launched Pumpkin Ale. Fifty percent of proceeds from the RAD (Rob Allen Dollar) Pumpkin Ale will be donated to the foundation.

Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows kicks off its Desert Brews and German Grill pop-up beer garden on Friday, Oct. 1, to bring a taste of Oktoberfest to locals and resort guests. The dog-friendly event takes place every Friday night in October from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Olive Grove next to Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen. Andaz Scottsdale has also partnered with local breweries to offer guests a complimentary tasting of German beers that pair with the biergarten bites, like house-made soft pretzel, grilled beer bratwurst and more. Desert Brews and German Grill guests can also purchase additional beers from the breweries to enjoy throughout the evening. The brewery schedule is as follows: Oct. 1, Four Peaks Brewing Company; Oct. 8, PHX Beer Co.; Oct. 15, SanTan Brewing Company; Oct. 22, State 48 Brewery; and Oct. 29, Four Peaks Brewing Company.

For the first time, PHX Beer Co has released an Oktoberfest craft beer, available in 16-oz. four-pack cans for $16 at its Brewery Taproom and its Scottsdale restaurant location and on tap. PHX Beer Co’s other seasonal launches, Howling Oats Hazy IPA and North Rim Hazy IPA, will be also available at both PHX Beer Co’s locations.

The Sicilian Baker

Available for a limited time at The Sicilian Baker is the pumpkin pie cannoli, with creamy pumpkin pie-infused sweet ricotta filling. The special will come with a large orange cannoli shell that is chocolate dipped with edible pumpkin decorations. The pumpkin pie cannoli cream flavor and large pumpkin cannoli will be available starting on Oct.15 through Nov. 30. From Oct. 28 through Halloween, The Sicilian Baker will celebrate with a spooky treat: a Halloween cannoli available in the large size with pumpkin-flavored cream filling and decorated with a pumpkin face and cotton candy. 

If they can catch it on the rotating list of weekly flavors, Crumbl fans clamor for pumpkin-centric favorites like Pumpkin Chocolate Chip (a soft, pumpkin spice cookie packed with semi-sweet chocolate chips).

Through Oct. 31, Los Sombreros will dish up two delicious fall favorites: pumpkin soup with locally grown pumpkins from Crooked Sky and Abby Lee farms and pumpkin flan with housemade pumpkin puree and from-scratch caramel.

Picazzo’s Healthy Italian Kitchen

Picazzo’s Healthy Italian Kitchen has introduced fall seasonal dishes to the menu. Pumpkin hummus (blended with pumpkin and a hint of fall spices, plus topped with olive oil and toasted pumpkin seeds) and Moroccan chicken (or vegan Moroccan Chick’n) will both be available from Oct. 1 through the end of the year.

Original Breakfast House in Phoenix will offer its gluten-free pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon-honey butter and homemade pumpkin muffins (you can even pick up a pack of four) through October for a festive kickoff to the day.

Diego Pops in Old Town Scottsdale launched a fan-favorite Mexican dessert with a timely twist: churros with pumpkin spice dip.
