Pinard Wine Bar Opens in North Scottsdale

North Scottsdale’s Pinard Wine Bar opened in the fall, offering a taste of exploration with a menu showcasing the flavors of the world from the streets of Milan to San Sebastián in Spain.

Poised to become a staple in North Scottsdale’s dining scene, Pinard Wine Bar is a culinary venture 40 years in the making. Inspired by the extensive travels of local Letty Ebel, the menu reflects the rich culinary traditions and treasured meals, wines, and cultures of Europe. Each glass (and plate) is a homage to Ebel’s travels and the places that left a mark on her soul.

“Our goal is to offer a place where everyone can relax and try new wines, enjoy delicious and authentic foods, and feel at home while doing it,” says Ebel, in a press release.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with a sophisticated yet approachable environment. The space is adorned with plush red velvet seating, soft white linens, and dimly lit tables. During the day (and when the weather is forgiving), the space plans to open a garage-style wall in the focal point of the dining space, allowing light breezes and natural light to flow.

At the heart of Pinard’s appeal is its thoughtfully curated menu, showcasing French and Italian classics crafted with precision and care. From the tender beef bourguignon to the vibrant ratatouille, every dish transports diners to the cobblestone streets of Europe. Shareables like the indulgent foie gras or cheese boards pair perfectly with wine, while hearty entrees such as the veal chop or prime steak cuts cater to more robust appetites.

The creative offerings, like smoked linguine with heirloom tomatoes and guanciale and Pincho de Solomillo filet skewers with horseradish cream, add a modern take to traditional European flavors, ensuring something for everyone. Each of these plates has been curated by Cordon Bleu graduate chef, Sidney Goodman, whose background spans renowned establishments such as Tonto Grill and Binkley’s.

Complementing the menu is Pinard’s impressive wine program (“pinard” is slang for “red wine” in French), which elevates the experience with over 40 wines by the glass and more than 200 by the bottle. Specializing in European varietals, the bar offers unique selections not typically found in the Valley. Highlights include rare finds like the 2021 Volcanic Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on volcanic soils that impart intense, complex flavors. “We will be offering varietals that you have likely never even tasted before, like Aglianico from Campania in southern Italy,” says Ebel, in a press release.
