Restaurant of the Week: Coconut’s Fish Cafe

Coconut’s Fish Cafe, which first opened in Hawaii in 2009, opened the first mainland location of Coconut’s in Scottsdale in 2013. Serving fresh, healthy, “island style” food, Coconut’s is known for delicious, high-quality food and friendly customer service.

The first thing you notice upon entering Coconut’s Fish Cafe is the friendly, smiling faces. Customer service is a priority at Coconut’s and it shows. The decor is inviting with bright, tropical colors, and in true Hawaiian fashion, it is casual and comfortable indoor and outdoor seating.

Walk up to the counter to order appetizers, entrees, beer or wine. Some notable appetizers are the Coconut Shrimp and Shrimp Skewers. The Shrimp Skewers are grilled, so this is a perfect option for the more health conscious diner.

There are also soups and salads to choose from, our personal favorite being the Taco Salad. This dish is gluten free (they have lots of gluten free options!) and is served with a choice of fish, steak, chicken, or veggie patty served on a bed of greens with taco fixings.

There are of course tacos on the menu! The Shrimp Tacos are a fan favorite. Enjoy two tacos grilled with white corn tortillas and a variety of 17 ingredients; including organic tomato salsa, house made mango salsa, their famous cole slaw, tomatoes and cheese.

The menu doesn’t stop there. There are also Chips dishes – fish and chips, calamari and chips and shrimp and chips. Under the Kama’aina Favorites, we loved the Poke Bowl, featuring raw Ahi Poke, pickled cucumber, ginger, and red onion; with radish, mangos, edamame, and avocado; over brown rice and mixed greens. This dish was almost too pretty to eat!
