Restaurant of the Week: Diego Pops

Diego Pops is a hip and vibrant Mexican restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale serving up tacos, tequila and treats.

Located right off Scottsdale Rd, just south of Camelback, Diego Pops has a large patio that makes you feel like you’re on vacation – especially if you order one of the cocktails served in a baby coconut. The interior of the restaurant is dim with bright decor including pineapple wallpaper and funky wall art.

The Diego Pops menu consists of tacos of course, as well as taco bowls, salads, poke and more. Some of our absolute favorites are the Street Corn Queso, Brussels Sprout Nachos, Braised Green Chili Chicken Bowl and the Crispy Cod Tacos.

Unlike many other Mexican restaurants, Diego Pops offers Taco Monday deals instead of Taco Tuesday. We are all about making Mondays better! All day you can $2 and $3 tacos (depending on the filling).

The drink menu has a handful of cocktails that of course includes margaritas and some coconut drinks that are actually served in a baby coconut with an umbrella. They have a great selection of tequilas with Don Julio Blanco and Peligroso Cinnamon on tap. You can also order a flight of three tequilas of your choosing, served with sangrita to sip in between each tequila to cleanse the palette.

One of our favorite parts of the restaurant is the treat bar. Such a unique little addition, serving up soft serve ice cream cones, the original Choco Taco, sundaes, churro fries and Fruity Pebble Krispie treats.
