Restaurant of the Week: Humble Pie

Beloved neighborhood pizzeria, Humble Pie, has undergone a brand revamp that includes sleek dining room renovations, an updated bar and a new menu—redeveloped by none other than world-class chef and Food Network star, Jorge Gomez.

With more than 10 years of experience in serving Arizona communities, the bistro restaurant has already cemented a pristine reputation for itself and its fresh, culinary creations. But in an effort to take an already well-established brand from good to great, the pizza chain has refreshed its aesthetic and brought in Gomez to innovate its offerings.

The interior space is now drenched in neutral tones and nostalgic aesthetics that are warmed by Edison bulbs and sharp, black refurbished seating. The design elements act as an ode to the Old World charm often provided by storied pizzerias from around the world. And the general ambience is only made better by the specifically curated background playlist, and the restaurant’s flavorful menu offerings.

While the renovated designs cultivate an elevated dining experience for guests, the quality menu offerings are still surprisingly feasible.

The Humble Pie menu has long featured staple items like a variety of wood-fired pizzas, toasted ravioli, chicken parmesan, and prosciutto and smoked mozzarella, among other dishes. But with Gomez on board, the culinary team has worked to craft a fresh chef-driven menu to bring globetrotting flavors, techniques and ingredients to the new “not so humble” eatery.

Gomez brings more than two decades of international and local experience. After graduating as a classically French-trained chef from the culinary institute of Mexico and training in Barcelona and Europe—where he mastered the art of world-class pizza—he helped build local restaurants under LGO Hospitality and Genuine Concepts, and has competed in a number of Food Network shows, as well.

The updated menu features old favorites with an innovative take—with global inspiration from Gomez flawlessly incorporated into each dish. Some of the standout items include The Gentleman—a stone-oven pizza composed of Italian sausage, ricotta cheese, sauté leeks, spicy honey, toasted thyme and a chili oil drizzle—and the *Not So* Humble Dip, crafted with braised carnitas and covered in melted provolone cheese, caramelized onions, house crema and a side of rich jus.

The Humble Pie Smorgasboard is something of an “antipasto extravaganza” that’s made up of charcuterie, cheeses, hummus, artichokes, wild mushshrooms, crispy brussels and the famed forno bread—and is made even better by a glass of the Hello Peaches cocktail, which boasts an ingredient list of peach vodka, lemon, and prosecco topped with bubbles.

To finish out the night, we humbly recommend that guests indulge in the churros dulce de leche dessert that’s as beautiful as it is decadent.

The Humble Pie also serves fresh, daily-made pastas, and artisanal pizzas from in-house sourdough, which requires three days to cultivate and has a light and airy mouthfeel. The globally influenced menu also features flavorful sandwiches, crave-worthy appetizers, and a variety of vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options.

If there’s one Valley restaurant you need to add to your must-visit list, do make sure it’s Gomez’s reimagined Humble Pie. For more information or to place an order, visit www.humblepieusa.com.
