J&G Steakhouse is an elegant and romantic steakhouse tucked away in the Phoenician hotel on top of a hill with expansive views of Phoenix – perfect for watching a sunset over a glass of wine and dinner. J&G offers a sophisticated collection of steakhouse classics by Michelin starred chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
The night started with the steamed shrimp salad with avocados and the dressing made with a champagne base. The combination of shrimp and avocado with the champagne dressing was a melody of flavors.
We also tried the tuna tartare made with avocado, spicy radish and ginger marinade. Also, the black truffle comte fritters, small bite size pieces of comte cheese breaded. Both appetizers were packed full of flavor and a wonderful preview of the rest of the meal.
For the main course we tried the roasted lobster and the prime rib eye. The lobster was fresh and full of flavor, with oregano and chili spices, served with a half lemon for extra freshness and flavor. The prime rib was served medium rare, packed with flavor, with a variety of sauces on the side. The sauces included béarnaise, black pepper condiment, smoked chili glaze, soy-miso mustard, J&G steak sauce, macho sauce, champagne sauce and beurre blanc. The prime rib was full of flavor on its own, but our favorite sauce was the champagne sauce.
We also ordered a side of potato gratin with comte. Thinly sliced potatoes with a layer of comte cheese melted to perfection, with the slightest crunch.
The meal was topped off with baked Alaska, prepared tableside, fire included. Coconut ice cream served with a meringue layer on top, cooked by adding flaming Meyer’s Rum. The show of a flaming desert prepared tableside and flavor of the ice cream, meringue and rum was the perfect way to end the meal.
J&G Steakhouse has more to offer than just great views and a wonderful atmosphere in which to enjoy your evening. They also offer a wide selection of wines and a full bar, exceptional food with freshness you can taste, they also have a friendly and knowledgeable wait staff.
