Restaurant of the Week: Ling’s Wok Shop

Since opening its doors this past summer, Ling’s Wok Shop has brought a refreshing taste of modern Asian cuisine with an American twist to Scottsdale. The spot is the latest innovation from the team that brought you Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill and offers a dynamic approach to its dining experience by offering a unique flex-casual concept that will wok your world.

Working as a fast-casual spot during the day and transforming to a full-service restaurant at night, Ling’s Wok Shop works hard to meet the needs of its guests who crave something quick and easy for lunch and want to kick back and relax for dinner. The shop’s design is open and inviting, with a bright dining space that leads outside to a large patio complete with cozy string lights and plush seating. The interior features a modern design with wood elements, a vibrant color palette and plant life.

The Black Orchid Ahi

Each dish at the dining destination is both healthy, convenient and, of course, delicious. The spot utilizes a fire-wok and has modernized a 2,000-year-old cooking technique that uses a fiery heat to lock in delicious flavors and make its ingredients pop in seconds. Some noteworthy dishes include Ling’s seafood hot pot, made with seared scallops, salmon and jumbo shrimp simmered in a green curry coconut broth; the black orchid ahi with a side of spicy soy mustard; and the fresh Szechwan sea bass featuring crisp asparagus, green beans, dried chilies, spicy citrus-soy and handmade pineapple salsa. Most dishes are gluten-friendly and can be customized to fit dietary needs for vegans, vegetarians and even keto.

If you save room for dessert, we highly recommend the spiced mocha moose, a hand-whipped, creamy chocolate moose with hints of espresso, spices and a house-made whipped cream, or the crème brûlée of the day, a sweet delicacy with a new flavor infused daily for a unique experience each visit.

For your little ones, Ling’s Wok Shop offers DIY-style bento boxes that allow your child to build their meal to perfection. Each option is made with whole ingredients and is hearty, healthy and delicious. Options include orange chicken, popcorn chicken, Mongolian chicken, edamame or steamed broccoli.

The Frozen Thai Mai

In addition to its signature entrees, Ling’s Wok Shop houses a beverage lineup that highlights its refreshing, handcrafted cocktails, as well as bubbles, sake, wines and ice-cold brews that are both locally sourced and imported. Some of our favorite mixed sips include the Grayhawk Tea with guava rum, fresh citrus and iced tea; the frozen Thai Mai that has been blended to perfection with pineapple and mango light rums, tropical juices and a black strap rum float; and the sweet-and-spicy Bangkok Spritz with Thai chili-infused Aperol, mango and sparkling wine. A happy hour is also available daily from 3 to 7 p.m. with most appetizers and libations discounted by a minimum of $4.

Also, in honor of the Lunar New Year, Ling’s Wok Shop will be serving Good Fortune Noodz for $21. And lion and dragon dancers will be performing on Friday, Feb. 4, at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
