It is easy to miss Gilbert’s Peacock Wine Bar if you are passing by, located in an unassuming strip mall along Gilbert Road. But we recommend that you look at bit harder for this lovely gem. The intimate wine bar is a charmer that sets the perfect stage for a step-up-from-casual date night or drinks with girlfriends.
Peacock lives up to its colorful name with a beautiful interior of purple, blue and gold, tufted chairs, mirrors and crystal-adorned lights. The quaint patio is trimmed with greenery, though the real head-turner is the large bar that faces an expansive wine wall.
Whether you’re ordering by the glass or by the bottle, there are around 60 wines to choose from, including a selection of denoted Peacock favorites. Best of all, many of the options cannot be found at larger retailers and grocery stores, making Peacock a great spot to pick up bottles for gifting. There are even monthly wine club memberships that offer participants a variety of perks and discounts.
The Peacock Wine Bar food menu is short but sweet: a few small starters, a duo of flatbreads and salads, and charcuterie boards. Peacock’s Choice Board is a delectable medley of cheeses, meats, nuts, olives, veggies and spreads, though diners can also build their own board. The port wine Derby cheese is a unique option, with a creamy texture and a berry aftertaste that is the perfect partner for your sweet white, while slices of smoky Iberico chorizo pair beautifully with a red.
