Phoenix Bourbon Room

Restaurant of the Week: Phoenix Bourbon Room

Phoenix Bourbon Room, a sister concept of State 48 Brewery, opened its doors at CityScape in Phoenix this summer, to the delight of whiskey lovers. The bar and restaurant spotlights an extensive array of spirits and craft cocktails, and hearty, stick-to-your-ribs grub.

Phoenix Bourbon Room is as moody and sleek as you’d hope a whiskey-centric bar and restaurant to be. Perfect for a lunchtime meeting or a sexy date night, the space is decked in oversized leather booths, bourbon barrels, brickwork and even a private seating with candles and, your guessed it, more leather furniture.

And the best thing to enjoy while lounging in the tufted booths? A classic Bourbon Room Old Fashioned. If whiskey is your sip of choice, there are dozens of options to choose from for sipping and savoring. Our pick for a tequila-based tipple? The Rising Suns cocktail is delicious and refreshing.

Phoenix Bourbon Room specializes in hearth, Southern-inspired eats, with beloved traditional dishes like grits, fried green tomatoes, jambalaya and chicken fried steak making menu appearances. To get the comfort food going immediately, the braised ham hock grit fritters are crisped to perfection, with sides of sour apple compote and pecan whipped butter.

The shrimp and grits is rich, creamy and packed with lightly spicy Creole flavor. In addition to the blackened shrimp, the cheddar grits are tipped with andouille sausage. Phoenix Bourbon Room features many meaty dishes (just check out the menu’s Smokehouse and Butcherblock sections!) with the smoked brisket being a favorite. The tender, smokey meat is topped with pickled jalapenos and tangy apple cider slaw and bourbon barbecue sauce.
