Gaze at the glowing fire, glance at a television (or four!), and get ready to enjoy delicious food and drinks with friends at the Social Box Neighborhood Eatery.
In a few short months, Social Box Neighborhood Eatery, or “SoBo,” has become a destination in Chandler. On a recent visit, the friendly hostess seated us at a table on the patio, close to the warm fire—perfect for a chilly evening. More than a dozen televisions display a smorgasbord of sports, providing a backdrop for friendly conversation. You can peek at the TV’s in between bites of entertainment for your taste buds.
The diverse menu begins with ‘appeteasers’ such as Italian-inspired Bruschetta piled high with fresh tomatoes drizzled with a balsamic reduction and an Asian fusion Cashew Calamari—crispy fried rings with crunchy cashews in a chopstick-licking-good sauce. The Kale Salad is as delicious as it is healthy: leafy greens peppered with sunflower seeds, quinoa, and grapes, lightly tossed with their homemade house dressing. You can also add chicken, salmon, shrimp or steak to any salad.
SoBo offers a wide selection of entrees including unique takes on traditional sandwiches, burgers, and pasta. Their classic pizzas, as well as ‘diy’ pizzas, are prepared in their wood-fired brick oven. Also prepared in the oven is the moist and flavorful “Under the Brick” Chicken. An entree not to be missed is the Ten-Spice Glazed Salmon with a delightful caramelized crust. All of the entrees come with your choice of sides and the unique opportunity to substitute a draft beer for a side. The seasonal draft is a delightful and festive San Tan winter warmer—a local ale spiced with ginger and paired with a delicate gingersnap cookie. Also, don’t skip the creamed corn. Savor. Every. Last. Kernel.
For the finale, we couldn’t help but smile (and applaud!) as a playful tower of cotton candy arrived at our table, artfully made in house. Reminisce about the last time you enjoyed fluffy spun sugar dissolving on your tongue.
And if the food and lively atmosphere weren’t enough, SoBo aims to play an active role in Chandler, giving a portion of monthly revenue back to community organizations. Have a special occasion coming up? Inquire about reserving the SoBo ‘secret room’ concealed by a sliding armoire. Open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with extended hours until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Social Box also serves Sunday brunch, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
