Social Tap is a new addition to Old Town Scottsdale that focuses on customer service, great food using high quality ingredients, creative cocktails and an emphasis on local craft beer.
Depending what you are in the mood for, Social Tap Scottsdale has it all. We started out with the Ahi Poke appetizer, which was seasoned Ahi tuna with sesame oil and Asian spices topped with avocado with fried wontons on the side. This was my first time eating Ahi tuna and though I was hesitant at first, the way the food was presented and the flavor made me want to eat more. Want something fried? Try the Calamari, sautéed with chorizo, peppers, and a sweet chili sauce. Or try the Brussel Sprouts and Bacon, fried Brussel sprouts with bacon, cotija cheese, and a sweet balsamic reduction – definitely not your mother’s Brussel Sprouts! All excellent choices and the Brussel Sprouts and Bacon is one I cannot wait to order again.
If the starters weren’t tempting enough, the entrees are just as appealing. We had three of their tacos: Seared Ahi Tacos, Ahi tuna served with wasabi slaw, teriyaki, Sriracha and sesame seeds, Filet Mignon Tacos, filet filled with a mushroom poblano & shallot mix, topped with poblano cheese sauce, fried shallots and black truffle salt, and finally, Pork Belly Tacos, crispy pork belly with pineapple salsa and chipotle aioli. This was just three of a variety of taco options they offer. If you are not in the mood for tacos, they also offer BYO Mac and Cheese, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and more.
End your dining experience on a sweet note with their dessert menu and my new favorite: Holy Sundae, layered chocolate chip cookie, Oreo, and brownie, topped with cinnamon toast crunch fried ice cream!
Their cocktail and beer menu also do not disappoint. Be sure to ask your server which beer is best paired with your entree. They also offer a Weekend Brunch menu if you’re on the search for a new brunch place. They also have an expansive patio, which will be great when the weather cools down. And even in the meantime, they have great misters, making the patio a comfortable temperature in the evenings.
With their mouth watering food choices and relaxed atmosphere, they are the perfect place for anything, from a business meeting to watching your favorite sporting event.
