Restaurant of the Week: Tocaya Organica

Tocaya Organica, a fresh-casual Modern Organic Mexican concept, opened their first Arizona location at Kierland Commons in Scottsdale.

Founded by Los Angeles-based hospitality company, The Madera Group, Tocaya nine locations across Southern California since its debut in 2016.

While it is a fast-casual concept, the atmosphere and quality of food is that of a sit-down restaurant. Using locally-sourced, organic ingredients, Tocaya’s menu is rooted in traditional Mexican recipes.

If you have any food restrictions, this menu naturally lends itself to a variety of eating preferences with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free alternatives for salads, tacos, bowls and burritos, while giving non-vegans their choice of grass-fed meat, free-range chicken and fish that is always fresh, never frozen.

Some of our favorites include The Venice Beach bowl, the Baja tacos (the vegan chipotle crema is delicious!) and the Guacamole, made with pomegranate seeds, lime pepitas, jalapeño, cilantro and house-made crispy plantain chips.

For beverages, you can enjoy aguas frescas and juices, as well as margaritas, beer and wine. We highly recommend the margaritas, you can definitely tell they are made with the freshest ingredients.

If you have room for dessert, the Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich is a must. Enjoy Craig’s vegan vanilla ice cream between two churro waffles, chocolate sauce (this dish is vegan, but does contain gluten).
