Restaurant of the Week: Rosso Italian

Experience the true essence of traditional Italian cuisine with a modern twist at Rosso Italian, a new upscale restaurant in Downtown Phoenix serving an exquisite array of contemporary dishes and craft sips that are sure to delight your palate.

Nestled into the bustling heart of Downtown Phoenix, Rosso Italian is a new dining experience from Pomo Restaurant Group, the creators of sister concepts Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana and Luna Gelateria. The fresh site made its grand debut in February and continues to make waves in the vibrant city as the go-to restaurant for an authentic taste of Italy.

Rosso Italian offers a rustic yet modern design, with exposed brick, concrete textures, black finishes and a plethora of plants breathing life into the space. The dim lighting and red accents create a cozy and intimate atmosphere that welcomes all occasions, from romantic date nights to laidback sips with friends. An outdoor patio, complete with string lights and a bar, brings the outside in with a garage-style wall, in addition to space for furry friends to relax and dine with guests.

The fare at Rosso Italian will transport diners to the south of Europe, with each bite inspired by global flavors and influences from owner Stefano Fabbri’s travels and roots in Italy. Each plate is carefully crafted with the freshest ingredients to create indulgent entrees, appetizers, seafood and the signature Napoletana pizza from its sister restaurant, Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana.

Grilled Focaccia

To start your culinary endeavor, opt for the grilled focaccia with rosemary, housemade pesto and grilled focaccia links or the heirloom caprese with vine-ripened heirloom tomatoes, fior di latte, housemade pesto and fresh basil leaves. An assortment of mains to follow the shareable plates are available, offering a wide range of contemporary dishes, including handmade pasta, pizzas and items from both land and sea. The star of the lineup is an impeccable plate not listed on the menu and is prepared in limited amounts—a whole fish Branzino Rivera. The delicate entree is created with baby carrots, fingerling potatoes, bell pepper, capers, gremolata and a splash of refreshing citrus. The bright plate is made with fish flown in daily from nearby waters. Each pasta and pizza dish has the option to be made vegan and gluten-free for those dining with dietary restrictions.
