Sandfish Sushi and Whiskey to Open in Melrose District

A new Japanese fine-dining experience is coming to Melrose District this summer after finding popularity with its first location in Palm Springs. The new establishment, Sandfish Sushi and Whiskey, will bring traditional and experimental Japanese tastes to the area to be served alongside a highly-curated selection of Japanese whiskey.

With owner and award-winning chef Engin Onural at the helm, Sandfish will offer an expertly curated menu where guests can expect specialty signature rolls like the Experimental Roll with snow crab, mango, avocado and cucumber, topped with tuna, jalapeno, cilantro and yuzu aioli, or the baby langoustine roll with crab meat, avocado, tempura-style baby langoustine, spicy aioli, teriyaki sauce and microgreens.

Spanish Octopus

In addition to its hand-rolled sushi, the new spot also offers a fine selection of elevated dishes like the Spanish octopus that is both braised and grilled, then served with edamame hummus, bubu arare, Tsukudani nori and microgreens, or the albacore tataki, with seared albacore, fennel, shallots, house-made lime koshu, taro chips and seaweed salt from Norway. To balance every savory bite, a homemade matcha cheesecake is available in the dessert lineup.

An impressive beverage program is set to make its mark at Sandfish, featuring a full bar with innovative cocktail creations, mocktails, beer, sake, wine and the highly-anticipated lineup of globally-sourced whiskey.
