From the team behind Flint by Baltaire in Phoenix comes Sexy Roman, an exciting addition to W Scottsdale‘s culinary lineup. The new restaurant, which will dish up upscale twists on the authentic recipes of Italy and the Mediterranean, will act as the centerpiece of the ground floor of the sleek Old Town hotel when it opens in the spring.
Alliance Hospitality Group is gearing up to welcome Sexy Roman at W Scottsdale, located in the heart of the city’s Entertainment District. The restaurant is set to replace Sushi Roku, which closed its doors in July 2023 after 15 years in the Valley. Heading up the kitchen will be James Beard Award-nominated chef, Jason Franey, and the LA-based restaurant team behind Baltaire Steakhouse and Flint by Baltaire in Phoenix. The new Scottsdale restaurant will serve its spin on Italy and Mediterranean cuisine, accompanied by tableside drink service via a signature, custom-made martini cart.
Chef Franey’s menu begins with offerings from the Raw Bar, like the ahi tuna crudo with eggplant caviar and harissa vinaigrette. The spuntini section features classic Roman dishes such as saffron suppli (rice balls) stuffed with taleggio cheese, while diners will delight in pasta selections like lumache alla spicy vodka. Entrees include the signature and sumptuous Sexy Roman lasagna with short rib bolognese, fontina, mozzarella, parmesan, and asiago, and decadent prime steaks grilled to perfection. Dessert time also features showstoppers, like a tiramisu rolled out on a cart and served in copper serve ware with an espresso anglaise sauce spooned tableside, as well as a selection of handmade gelatos paired with authentic pizzelle.
No meal at Sexy Roman will be complete without a visit from the martini cart, which can be summoned by a discreet press of a hidden button. A perfectly crafted martini will be made-to-order with a flash of theatrics in a nitro-chilled glass. Plus, the restaurant’s cocktail menu will feature contemporary-classic Italian-style cocktails and an extensive array of cult-level wines from Italy and beyond, including rare vintages and large-format bottles for ringing in special occasions.
The stunning, luminous décor will pair beautifully with Sexy Roman’s culinary offerings. A glowing black marble bar top and cozy lounge with plush couch seating welcomes guests before they step into the airy main dining room, decked with sleek, intimate seating. Slide-away window walls make way for the spacious alfresco dining deck strung with live plants and a towering privacy wall.
