Restaurant of the Week: St. Urban

With unmatched views of Uptown Phoenix’s cityscape, unique handcrafted cocktails and elevated light bites, a trip to St. Urban is a must this spring.

Settled directly atop Neighborly Public House, St. Urban is a French-inspired brasserie from Common Ground Culinary Concept in Uptown Phoenix. The interior is fitted with a vintage yet chic design, with rose-adorned wallpaper, a pastel color palette and vibrant flowers and mirrors engulfing the space. Views of Uptown Phoenix surround the dining room with bay windows lining a wall, allowing the second-floor bar to showcase beautiful cityscape views. The bright and vibrant atmosphere marks the destination as the perfect setting for a girl’s night out or casual date night.

An assortment of light bites, shareable plates and a handful of dinner mains can be found on the bill of fare, each offering a nod to France. We highly recommend starting your meal with the classic shrimp cocktail, with six large shrimp resting in a bath of Louie slaw and a horseradish cocktail sauce or the jamón deviled eggs, with whipped pork shoulder, creole mustard, chives and paprika. Some of our favorite entrées include the spit-fire chicken breast with jus reduction, carrots, cipollini onions, wild mushrooms and goat cheese whipped potatoes; the wild mushroom lasagna with San Marzano tomato, spinach, four cheeses and greens; or the roasted pork Cubano with Calabrese, reggiano crema, pickles, creole mustard and lattice chips.

To drink, a signature collection of libations are available at St. Urban, including a variety of cocktails, white and red wines and an assortment of beer and spirits. The Sangria #9 is a staple on the menu, crafted with a three-rum blend, cinnamon-infused Cointreau, pinot noir, tepache and lime juice or opt for the French Kiss with coffee-infused Wheatley, cinnamon-infused Cointreau, espresso and Tempus Fugit Creme de Moka. A happy hour is also available at the brasserie from 4 to 6 p.m. daily with discounts on select sips and plates.

If you can save room for dessert, indulge in the chocolate mousse pie with an Oreo crust and fresh whipped cream or the crème brûlée with classic custard and Madagascar vanilla. The treats are the perfect way to end your meal.

St. Urban is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m.
