Tiki Taka in Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort

Scottsdale’s dynamic culinary landscape has reached new heights with the arrival of Tiki Taka, the latest jewel in acclaimed chef and restaurateur Richard Blais’ culinary crown. The new gastronomic venture is housed within the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort, where Chef Blais has curated a menu that boldly harmonizes Japanese, Spanish, and local Southwest flavors for a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Richard Blais, a James Beard Award-nominated cookbook author and television personality, is known for his imaginative approach to food. He has worked alongside legendary chefs such as Thomas Keller, Gordon Ramsey, and Nyesha J. Arrington. His expertise and playful creativity have led to the success of multiple restaurant concepts, and Tiki Taka is his latest gem. Blais has partnered with Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort to oversee the hotel’s food and beverage offerings, which include La Zozzona, Mesa Centrale, and the Grand Vista Lounge. With Tiki Taka, he brings a lively, shared-plate dining experience that draws from his love of international flavors and bold, unexpected pairings.

Designed by Wimberly Interiors, Tiki Taka’s ambiance is bold, eclectic, and immersive. The restaurant’s 138-seat space draws inspiration from Spanish landmarks such as Las Ramblas in Barcelona and the cozy, intimate charm of Japanese izakayas. The dining room features a long communal table, a sushi and tapas display counter, and plush lounge-style booths. Neon accents, vibrant digital art displays, and warm lighting create an inviting and dynamic environment. The outdoor patio, with seating for 108 guests, offers breathtaking views and an open-air dining experience perfect for Scottsdale’s stunning sunsets.

The menu celebrates small plates, showcasing a mix of cold tapas, pintxos, yakitori, and sushi. Highlights include hamachi pizza with pickled daikon and bonito flakes; crispy soft-shell crab escabeche with black garlic yuzu; and beef bacon-wrapped dates with Valdeon cheese. For something heartier, guests can enjoy spot prawns a la plancha, chorizo gyoza with a sherry dip, or Okonomiyaki topped with bonito flakes, bacon, and a fried egg. The sushi selection offers inventive rolls such as the Tiki Taka Roll, featuring red crab, bluefin yellowtail, piquillo pepper, avocado, and cucumber, as well as the Crujiente Doble, a spicy tuna roll with eel sauce and fried shallots. Sweet tapas like the Basque cheesecake with passionfruit curd and Kakigori flavors like sweet coconut matcha round out the dining experience.

The beverage program at Tiki Taka is just as adventurous as the food, with signature cocktails highlighting Japanese and Spanish ingredients. Drinks include the Osaka Sour, made with Akashi Japanese whisky and a tempranillo red wine float; the Ube Espresso Martini with vodka and ube-infused condensed milk; and the Kumo Matcha, blending rice whisky with strawberry and matcha green tea foam. Guests can also enjoy a tableside sangria frozen with liquid nitrogen, available in both red and white variations. An extensive selection of sake, wines, and Japanese whisky is also available.

Tiki Taka in Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort is open daily from 5 to 10 p.m.
