Phoenix is set to welcome an exciting new addition to its sports and dining scene this winter with the opening of Title 9 Sports Grill in the Melrose District. This first-of-its-kind women-focused sports bar is set to redefine the traditional sports bar experience. The space celebrates women athletes, promotes inclusivity, and fosters empowerment.
Named after the landmark Title IX legislation that prohibited gender-based discrimination in education and athletics, Title 9 Sports Grill aims to elevate the visibility of women’s sports and create a community for fans and families. The mission is to empower young women, celebrate women’s teams, and provide equal recognition for female athletes.
“This isn’t just another sports bar; it’s a movement,” says Kat Moore, co-owner of Title 9 Sports Grill, in a recent press release. “Phoenix has never seen a space like this, and we’re here to celebrate women’s sports with front-and-center coverage, a welcoming atmosphere, and a menu that honors the athletes we admire.”
The concept behind Title 9 Sports Grill is a collaboration between two Phoenix entrepreneurs, Audrey Corley (founder of Boycott Bar and former college basketball coach) and Moore (co-founder of Short Leash Hotdogs + Taproom and an avid soccer player). Combining their passion for women’s sports and expertise in creating thriving community spaces, Corley and Moore are turning their vision into reality.
“We saw a real gap in the sports bar world,” says Corley, lifelong advocate for women’s athletics, in a press release. “Women’s sports often take a backseat, and we wanted to create a space where they are celebrated.”
Title 9 Sports Grill promises to be more than a place to watch games. It is a destination that blends entertainment, empowerment, and great food. Guests can look forward to an extensive menu featuring elevated takes on classic bar foods, including wings, sliders, and salads, alongside vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options. Many dishes are named after iconic female athletes, paying tribute to their achievements. The drink menu is equally intentional, exclusively featuring beers, ciders, and spirits from women-owned breweries and distilleries, further emphasizing the bar’s mission to uplift women in all facets of the industry.
Beyond the menu, Title 9 Sports Grill will immerse visitors in the history and triumphs of women athletes. The Trophy Room will showcase donated trophies, interactive games, and stories of trailblazing athletes. Striking artwork throughout the space will honor local icons like Phoenix Mercury stars and other notable figures in women’s sports. The bar’s design features comfortable seating, a wraparound bar, and plenty of screens to ensure every guest feels a part of the action.
“We want people to walk in and feel inspired, connected, and ready to celebrate,” says Corley. “This is a place where we honor the power, passion, and perseverance of women in sports.”
With a focus on inclusivity, empowerment, and community, this Phoenix innovative sports bar is designed to make an impact beyond game day.
