In honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, Arizona breweries will tap a special beer on Sept. 16, with a portion of the brew’s sales going to suicide prevention organizations.
OHSO Brewery, with several Valley locations, is leading the charge with a special beer called 1-800-273-TALK in support of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. More than 50 local and national partners will serve 1-800-273-TALK during September. All participating brew partners will tap 1-800-273-TALK on Sept. 16, and a portion of the beer’s sales will be donated to suicide prevention organizations.
The goal is to educate the public that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and to spread the message that all are loved, and someone is always available to listen.
“I want patrons everywhere to see this beer and ask what it’s about. I want them to ask questions and understand how valuable a resource the Lifeline can be,” says OHSO Brewery founder, Jon Lane, in a press release. “This campaign is about creating conversations around suicide prevention, and I hope we encourage people to reach out to someone in their life who may be struggling. A simple phone call could save a life.”
Tin tackers, or embossed metal signs, are also available for purchase online for businesses interested in promoting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. For more information, visit ohsobrewery.com/1800-talk-support. To donate to a local suicide prevention organization, text Brew4Hope to 44321.
